Brief Description:
Mr. Wang Zilin started practicing Falun Gong in May of 1997. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on November 11, 2000, but disappeared after his arrest by Beijing Police. Based on the information provided by several Jilin Falun Gong practitioners, we learned the following about Mr. Wang’s trip to Beijing:
1. Mr. Wang traveled through Jilin City, Changchun City, and Tianjin City on his way to Beijing.
2. After his appeal in Tiananmen Square, he was arrested and detained at the Xuanwu District Detention Center in Beijing, and he was interrogated twice. He never returned after the second interrogation.
3. According to practitioners’ accounts, there was a Falun Gong practitioner from Qipan Street in Jilin City who was in the same cell as Mr. Wang Zilin. Mr. Wang told him, “I will never reveal my name, even if they kill me.” Soon after, Mr. Wang Zilin was taken out for a second interrogation, but he never returned to the cell. Since then, no one ever heard any news about Mr. Wang Zilin again.
The work unit where Mr. Wang Zilin was employed removed his name from the employee roster after Chinese New Year in 2002.
Steps taken to find Mr. Wang Zilin: Mr. Wang Zilin’s wife, Ms. Fu, 40 years old, reported Mr. Wang’s disappearance to the local Shanqian Police Station in the Longtan District of Jilin City, but received no reply. For the past four years, Mr. Wang’s wife tried many ways to locate him. Mr Wang Zilin’s brother-in-law went to Beijing twice, taking gifts to the government offices responsible for handling out-of-town Falun Gong practitioners, yet he did not get any response. When the family went to Xuanwu’s District Detention Center, the officials there said that they had never heard of Wang Zilin. type=case, disappearance; |
