December 8, 1999, at Taipu Village, in Bingcao Township, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province, China.

Brief description:

On July 20, 1999, the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin launched the campaign to eradicate Falun Gong. On the same day, Ms. Wang Xingjin went to Beijing to appeal to the government. The police officers in Shenzhou City who were specially dispatched to various regions seized her before she reached Beijing and took her back to her hometown. Her second attempt to appeal in Beijing also failed. She was sent back and fined 500 yuan [equivalent to the average monthly salary in China]. Police officers warned her, “If you appeal one more time, you will be sentenced to labor camp.”

Ms. Wang believed that she had done nothing wrong to let people know the truth about Falun Gong, so on December 8, 1999, she once again went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Since that day, her family has not heard from her again, and they don't know if she is still alive. Her family tried to located from the police stations, friends and relatives.
