Ms. Wei Guirong’s Arms Disabled after Tortured
Print  E-mail

Since October 1999, Ms. Wei Guirong, female, 54, an employee of the Erligang Administration Office of Guanchenggong District, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, was arrested three times and detained twice at the Shibalihe Women’s Labor Camp in Henan Province, because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. During her detention in the labor camp, she was tortured, subjected to forced brainwashing, and forced to do heavy labor.

Since April 2003, the labor camp has forced Falun Gong practitioners, who refuse to renounce Falun Gong, to wear a special fine canvas straight-jacket. The sleeves, which have straps about 10 inches longer than the victim's arms, cross over the chest and then fasten behind the victim’s back. The guards tie practitioners’ arms behind their backs, pull their arms up over their shoulders to the front of their chest, tie up their  legs, and hang them up in the air from the windows. At the same time, they gag the practitioners' mouths with cloth, put earphones in their ears and continuously play messages slandering Falun Gong. These practitioners quickly sustain broken arms, tendons, shoulders, wrists and elbows. Those who endure this torture for a long time end up with broken spines, and die in agonizing pain. Recently, six female practitioners were tortured to death in this way. Many other practitioners were permanently disabled. Ms. Wei was also tortured in this way, which caused her arms to be disabled. Since then she has been unable to take care herself. Two inmates were ordered to take care of her, but they often beat and curse Ms. Wei. Ms. Wei’s is in constant danger of losing her life.
