In July 2000, Mr. Song Tao, 34, was arrested for viewing the Falun Gong website at home. He was badly tortured in a detention center for 4 months. In June 2001, Mr. Song was arrested again by the Jiamusi Railway Police Sub-Bureau, Heilongjiang Province. He was detained for 3 months in the Railway Detention Center until his health condition became so critical that he had to be released to seek medical care.
To cover up its brutality, the Chinese government has continued to spread lies in all media in China to slander Falun Gong and create hatred among the Chinese people towards Falun Gong.
On April 20, 2002, Mr. Song tapped into government controlled cable TV network to transmit programs to reveal the government’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong in several cities in Heilongjiang Province. After that, he went to Weihai City, Shandong Province and again took part in tapping into cable TV. On July 19, 2002, the local Yantai police kidnapped Mr. Song. He has been brutally tortured. To protest police torture, Mr. Song went on a hunger strike. Because of the hunger strike and the physical torture, he has become extremely weak and that is in critical condition. We call an urgent action to from the United Nation to ensure Mr. Song’s well being.
