Brief description:
Ms. Men Xiangrong is a practitioner of Falun Gong. Because of her practice, she was sentenced to one year in prison, and detained at the Tuanhe Labor Camp in Beijing. On January 5, 2004, Ms. Men handed out materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in her residential area. The police followed her home and at 8 p.m. that night, the Fangchengyuan Police Station sent Officer Li Xin and a few people from the residential committee to surround Ms. Men's home. They arrested her, along with her infant daughter and her husband to the Fangchengyuan Police Station. Her husband was later released. The police confiscated their valuables and 6,000 Yuan. Ms. Men and the baby have been missing ever since.
On January 6th, the Fangchengyuan Police Station, the "610 Office," and the local residential committee had a meeting after which they claimed they had released Ms. Men and her daughter. However, her family members have not yet seen either of them, and they are extremely worried.
Steps taken to find Ms. Men Xiangrong
After Ms. Men and her daughter were detained, her husband requested that the authorities of the Fangchengyuan Police Station release their baby, but the local authorities told him that they already released Ms. Men and the child.
Ms. Men’s family members went to the local authorities many times to request the release of Ms. Men and her daughter, but each time they were removed from the office.
A Falun Dafa Information Center reporter called the Fangchengyuan Police Station to confirm the facts. The Fangchengyuan Police Station admitted that the police officer performing the arrest was Li Xin. While Officer Li Xin did not deny this, he hung up the phone and refused to answer additional calls. The reporter called Xie from the “610 Office” in the Fengtai District (86-10-638-11396), and Xie admitted that Ms. Men and her daughter were arrested and implied that since Falun Gong is banned in China, officers who perform illegal acts against the Falun Gong practitioners will never receive any punishment.
