Ms. Zhou Qichun, a 75 year old woman, was a retired accountant of the Tanji Factory in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Since Ms. Zhou began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, the high blood pressure and heart disease that she had suffered from for many years disappeared very quickly.

After July 20, 1999 the Chinese government started persecuting Falung Gong. Personnel from the local administration office, the police station, and the neighborhood committee went to Ms. Zhou’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, threatened her, and forced her not to practice Falun Gong any more. She was forced to stop Falun Gong exercise. Thereafter her health deteriorated rapidly and her past illnesses recurred. Later, when she was having her illness treated in the hospital of the Hebei Province Chemistry Geology Research Institute, the authorities harassed and threatened her again many times. Due to the tremendous pressure and stress that she was subjected to, she died on July 15, 2000.
