1. Jin Lifen, 54, female, from Jilin Province
In early 2001, since Ms. Jin Lifen refused to formally renounce Falun Gong, she
was forced to stand, without sleeping, for five days while she was detained at
the Heizuizi Labor Camp. Meanwhile, the camp guards ordered criminals at the
labor camp to whip her. They also verbally abused her and tried to coerce her
into giving up Falun Gong. All of these things together made her mentally
unbalanced.
2. Zhang Jian, female, 54, resident of Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province
While detained at the Wanjia Labor Camp, Ms. Zhang Jian was shackled to the
"iron-chair" for eight days and nights, and was not allowed to sleep or even
nap. The camp guards handcuffed her to the door in a "small cell" three times,
each time lasting seventy-two hours; they also deprived her of sleep during that
pe-riod of time.
3. Wang Yanfang, male, detained at Tuanhe Labor Camp
In 2000, Mr. Wang Yanfang was detained in Tuanhe Labor Camp. Since he refused to
renounce Falun Gong, the team leader tortured him and forcefully administered
sleeping pills to him. Then, the team leader ordered the inmates to watch Mr.
Wang around the clock and use various torture methods to keep him from sleeping
for three days and three nights. |
Restricting the Use of the Toilet |

Wang Aijuan, female, an employee at the Cotton Textile
Factory, Weifang City, Shandong province Ms. Wang Aijuan and other two
practitioners were arrested by the police on Aril 3, 2001 for distributing Falun
Gong material. On April 5, 2001, they were sent to the Fangzi Detention Center.
In the detention center, the three practitioners started a hunger strike to
protest the detention. The police beat them violently, tied them to chairs, and
force-fed them with high concentration salt solution. Shortly after the
force-feedings, the practitioners were in pain and started to vomit. Later, the
practitioners developed abdominal pain and needed to use the toilet; however,
Officer Guo and several others did not allow them to use the toilet. Another
police officer made fun of them saying, "Let her do it in her pants." Wang
Aijuan cried after she defecated in her pants. The police still would not
release her from the chair.
Ms. Wang Aijuan died from complications from her beating on April 7,2001. Her
body was cremated the next day. Witnesses said she had been severely beaten with
bruises and contusions around her face, neck, and arms. |
Prohibiting the Use of Sanitary Napkins |

1. Wen Kailing, female, 18, resident in Xiqin County,
Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province
On June 23, 2000, the police arrested Wen Kailing who was on her way to Beijing
to appeal for Falun Gong. In the Shuangcheng City Police Station, she was not
allowed to change her sanitary napkin during her menstruation period. Her pants
were completely saturated with menstrual blood.
2. Na Hongwei, female, from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province
On June 23, 2000, Ms. Na Hongwei and Ms. Bai Jingzhi were detained at the Xiqin
Police Station in Shuangcheng City. The police burnt Ms. Na's face and neck with
cigarettes and lighters and they cursed the two women with dirty words. As a
result, the skin on their faces and necks were burnt and full of blisters. At
that time, Ms. Na's period came and her pants were wet with blood. However, she
was not allowed to use the bathroom or put on a sanitary napkin. |

University, holds a B.S. degree
In the middle of 2000, in order to force practitioners to renounce Falun Gong,
the police from the Yichun Labor Camp used a new way called "covering a shed" to
torture the practitioners. First they hand-cuffed a practitioner to a chair from
the back. Then, they secured multiple plastic bags over the practitioner's head
for several minutes, making it impossible for him or her to breathe. This kind
of torture nearly suffocated the practitioners, causing them extreme terror and
pain. Mr. Lu Chenglin, Mr. Wang Zhiqian, Mr. Wang Changhai, and many other
practitioners had to endure this torture. |
