After Ms. Han began practicing Falun Gong in 1995, her health greatly improved. The government started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999. One day in March 2001, Ma Baozhong, an officer from the Fuping County Police Station arrested her and sent her to the county detention center because she posted banners telling people the truth about Falun Gong. She was detained there for one month. They extorted 500 Yuan from her. Later the staff of the county 610 Office sent her to a forced brainwashing center, where she was tortured both mentally and physically because she still refused to give up Falun Gong. After she was released, she suffered a stroke and passed away on March 5, 2005.
