Ms. Zhao Xiuli always helped other practitioners at a Falun Gong practice site in the Fulaerji District of Qiqihaer City, Heilongjiang Province before the persecution of Falun Gong began in China. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin's regime started its persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Zhao and ten other local practitioners went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. For doing so, she was sentenced to forced labor at Qiqihaer City's Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp. There, Ms. Zhao was forcibly brainwashed, and abandoned Falun Gong cultivation practice against her will.
Because of the nationwide persecution, she and her family felt a great deal of pressure. The constant mental and physical pressure caused her heart ailment to recur, and it bothered her continuously. In early 2003, she could not move her upper body freely. She went to the hospital, had some tests done, and was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ms. Zhao then spent a few months at the hospital and had several treatments. Although she spent a lot of money on medical care, her illness worsened to the point where she could no longer get out of bed. The hospital's diagnosis was terminal cancer. Because treatment could no longer help, the hospital stopped giving her any medical services.
When local practitioners found out about her situation, they came to the hospital to take care of her. Ms. Zhao picked up a Falun Gong book and started to read and practice again. Afterwards, her illness was miraculously greatly reduced. After a few days, her breast festered and discharged a great deal of dark blood. The cancer symptoms disappeared, and she could get out of bed and move around. Several days later, Ms. Zhao fully recovered and she was released from the hospital. Her husband originally did not believe in Falun Gong, but after witnessing how his wife was pronounced hopeless by the hospital staff and then fully recovered because she practiced Falun Gong, he changed his opinion on Falun Gong. type=Case, health; |
