Print  E-mail

Zhang Baoting, male, 48, was a secretary at the Public Security Division for the Panji No. 1 Coal Mine, at the Huainan Mining Group in Anhui Province. Mr. Zhang had gone to Beijing three times to appeal for Falun Gong. After his second appeal in July 2000, he was detained at the No. 2 Huainan Detention Center for nearly two months. On January 1, 2002, Mr. Zhang unfurled a banner in Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong for the third time. To avoid detention and further persecution, he became homeless. Due to the long-term suffering physically and mentally, Mr. Zhang died around 2:00 p.m. on August 2, 2003; until then he was still homeless.
