Denied the Right to Practice Falun Gong, Ms. Yan Suyun Dies When Cancer Returns During Detention
Print  E-mail

Ms. Yan Suyun, female, in her 40's, was a Falun Gong practitioner who lived on Shanxi Street, Sinanqiao, Xinhe Township, Wenling City, Zhejiang Province. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1998. She had been afflicted with a malignant tumor (cancer). Her life threatening illness disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Yan began to practice Falun Gong in 1998. The doctors at the Hangzhou major hospital had previously diagnosed her with cancer and determined that there was no cure. She was sent home from the hospital. After that she began practicing Falun Gong. Soon her cancer went into remission and she recovered completely. All her neighbors knew about this miracle.

Even after the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Ms. Yan continued practicing. At the end of 1999, she and other practitioners were doing the group exercises outside at Xinheshan Park. The local authorities interrupted their practice.

In January 2001, the police arrested her while she was distributing materials explaining the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong and detained her at the Wenling City Detention Center. While in detention, the police would not permit her to practice Falun Gong, so her health began to deteriorate very quickly. One month later she was transferred to the Moganshan Women's Labor Camp in Deqin, Zhejiang Province. Fearing her extremely weak physical condition, the labor camp refused to admit her, as they did not want to be held responsible if she died while detained in the labor camp.

In spite of this, the local police would not release her. She was held in the detention center for several more months and was not allowed practicing Falun Gong . Her cancer recyrred, in the last stages of terminal cancer, she was sent to a hospital. However, it was too late, and Ms. Yan Suyun could not be saved and died shortly.

All her neighbors knew that Falun Gong had saved her life, and that, because the police prevented her from practicing, she died.

The people directly involved and responsible for Ms. Yan Suyun's death:

Dai Meizhong and Zhao Xiasheng, leaders of Xinhe Township Political Law Commission in Wenling City

Zhang Jiyu, former police chief in Xinhe Township

Wu Caiqing, vice police chief in Xinhe Township

Sun Jianhua, vice director of Chengxi Street Police Post in Wenling City.
