Ms. Wang Huazhen, 36, also named Wang Huajun, lived with her husband, Mr. Feng Qipin, and their children, Feng Jun and Feng Hao, in Fengjiashanwan, Mishan Village, Baiguo Town, Macheng City, Hubei Province.

On the morning of April 18, 2001, the police seized her while she was in downtown Macheng telling people the about the persecution of Falun Gong. They beat her viciously until 11 o'clock that night. When Ms. Wang Huazhen was on the brink of death, the police dragged her in the front of the city government building, poured gasoline on her, and burned her alive.

From eyewitness accounts, when the fire started to burn, she struggled, trying to get up, but she had already been beaten so badly that she could not stand. The police officers at the scene panicked, afraid she would yell and expose what they were doing to her. After the fire went out, her body was inspected. The post-mortem inspection revealed that the front of her body was burned while her back did not have any signs of burning. However, there were deep knife wounds on her throat and the back of her head.

After Ms. Wang Huazhen died, her three sisters-in-law took turns taking care of the two children. In June 2004, there was not enough money to send Feng Hao to go to school, so he had to leave school and go with his father, Mr. Feng Qipin, to Wuhan City, Hubei Province. In October 2004, other Falun Gong practitioners helped to bring Feng Hao back to his aunt Feng Xianzhi’s home so that he could go to school. Feng Xianzhi has two children of her own and is now taking care of Feng Jun and Feng Hao. As a result, she is strapped for money and her home is very small for so many children.
