In mid 2002, Ms. Yan Xihua, 53, teacher, resident of Heilongjiang Province, was detained in the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, she became very weak,  vomited often, and suffered from dizziness. The detention center refused to send her to see the doctor, and they forced her to take some medicine to stop her vomiting. One night, she was found unconscious in the restroom after vomiting with no one to help her. On the second day, the detention center doctor Xu Enjiang ordered four male inmates to take her out into the aisle, and force-feed her even though she had not gone on a hunger strike. Once, the detention center Director Bai Shuwen forced Ms. Yan to be strapped in an iron chair, and then he beat her face with a broom handle.  Ms. Yan is still being kept in the detention center.

On September 20, 2002, Ms. Cui Xuewei, 37, bank clerk, resident of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the police of the Jianshan Police Station in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province.  Police Officers of the Jianshan Police Station, Ling Dawei and Gao Yuan, shocked and beat Ms. Cui with electric batons, injuring her body and burning her face which became infected. In October 2002, she was sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, she went on a hunger strike. Since she had recurring diabetes and heart disease, she suffered convulsions after being force-fed,  the detention center doctor Xu Enjiang still ordered her to be force-fed. Ms. Cui got severe diabetes because of the force-feeding. She is still being held in the detention center.

In October 2002, Ms. Shan Jinying, resident of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested and sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, she went on a hunger strike, and vomited blood. Her health condition is critical. Ms. Shan is still being kept in the detention center.

Ms. Qiu Shuying, 46, resident of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, has been arrested three times. On November 1, 2002, she was arrested again and sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, by the orders of Chief Officer of the detention center Wang Yuting, she was strapped in an iron chair for five days. Ms. Qiu is still being detained.

On April 25, 2002, Ms. Zhao Juan, 37, teacher of the Shuangyashan City First Middle School, Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested and sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. She went on a hunger strike after she got to the detention center. On the second day of her hunger strike, director of the detention center, Bai Shuwen, and the detention center doctor Xu Enjiang ordered four inmates to force-feed her. They used a steel ruler to pry her mouth open and two teeth were broken. Her mouth was cut and  blood gushed out.  Xu Enjiang got another steel ruler and continued to pry her teeth open. On the fifth day of her hunger strike, she started to lose consciousness, and she was taken  to the hospital. On April 27, 2002, Ms. Zhao was sentenced to forced labor. Ms. Zhou is still being kept in the detention center.

On May 2, 2002, Ms. Wang Yuzhuo, 41, chief physician of the Shuangyashan City Hospital, resident of Jianshan District, Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested and sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, she had two heart attacks. Since she refused to give up Falun Gong, she was given heavy foot shackles. On November 3, 2002, she was diagnosed with a tumor 51mm x 35mm in her pelvic cavity, and she has bleeding. All her lymph glands were swollen. But the detention center refused to send her to the hospital. Ms. Wang is still being held in the detention center.

On April 15, 2002, Ms. Zhang Li, resident of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested and sent to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. During her detention, she went on hunger strikes for long periods of time. She is very weak now, and weighs less than eighty pounds. Ms. Zhang is still being kept in the detention center. Her husband, brother, and sister-in-law were also detained. Her two young children are now living without parents.
