Description:
Ms. Qiu Yuxia was arrested and sent to the Jiamusi Labor Camp because she practices Falun Gong. In early November 2002, because she refused to give up her belief, she was forced to sit on a tiny stool from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. every day for more than 20 days. During this period, guards also severely beat her, hung her by her handcuffed wrists, and stuffed a towel in her mouth. In May 2003, she was handcuffed and hung up in the air for more than one month. As a result, her heart became abnormal and her blood pressure climbed to extremely high levels. She often fainted and suffered convulsions. Even under such conditions, she was again hung up with handcuffs for more than one week until she was on the verge of death. She was then sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. Afterwards, she was sent back to the labor camp even though the doctor said her blood pressure was so high that any incident would threaten her life.
Recently Ms. Qiu has been so weak that she cannot take care for herself. Guard Chen Chunmei insists that Ms. Qiu is only pretending, and orders her to go to work as usual. Since Ms. Qiu is unable to move, Chen ordered four people to carry her to the working place and leave her lying there, and then carry her back at night when they finish work. We are very concerned about Ms. Qiu’s life and hereby request an urgent action by the United Nations to safeguard the life of Ms. Qiu.
