Shao Mingxue, male, 33, a teacher from the Beijing Aeronautics and Astronautics University, resident of Haidian District of Beijing

Employer:  Beijing Normal School

Mr. Shao Mingxue was scheduled to start his teaching job in Beijing Aeronautics and Astronautics University following his post-doctoral study in Beijing Normal School. However, in October 2000 he was dismissed after his school discovered that he practiced Falun Gong. In February 2001, Mr. Shao was arrested because he posted a statement that he would continue practicing Falun Gong on the Internet.  Officials from the National Security Bureau forced him from his home. In April 2001, Mr. Shao’s parents and parents-in-law came from Shandong and Gansu Provinces to Beijing to visit him, but the National Security Bureau would not allow them to visit Shao Mingxue. He remains wrongfully incarcerated.
