Location:

Description:
On February 1, 2001, Ms. Ye went to the Chinese Consulate in Sydney to renew her passport. After realizing she was a Falun Gong Practitioner, the officer told her that her case must be reported back to China. On March 19, 2001, Consul Ju called her and informed her that she should write a statement renouncing the practice of Falun Gong; otherwise her passport renewal would be rejected. She was told that the request came from the Chinese Government. Ms. Ye refused to accept their unreasonable request, and left with her old passport.
