A Brief Report of the Incident:

Early in July 2001, under extreme pressure from the hospital authorities, Dr. Dong Shuzhen unwillingly wrote a “guarantee” statement that she would give up Falun Gong. When she tried to rescind the “guarantee” statement, the Hospital Security Department employee Zhao brutally beat her and kept her in the psychiatric ward at Macheng city Hospital. She was subject to further torture and was treated as if she were a mental patient.
