Female Practitioners Tortured to Disability, and Lives Ruined in the Guizhou Zhongba Women's Labor C
Print  E-mail

The authorities of the Guizhou Zhongba Women Labor Camp have extended practitioners' terms, tortured them until they are disabled, ruined their lives, and broken apart their families, because they refuse to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. The following are several examples:

Ms. Wu Mingju, female, an English teacher at the school in Guiyang Special Steel Limited Corp., was detained at the labor camp for three years because she practices Falun Gong. Her three-year term should have ended on July 11, 2003, but the authorities extended her term for four months because she still refused to renounce Falun Gong. Her young son is living without his mother’s care.

Ms. Duan Tianpei, female, resident of Guiyang City, had been detained at the labor camp for three years because she appealed to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. After she was released, she was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution. In May 2003, she went back home to take care of her 90-year-old mother and her daughter. Policemen soon took her back to the labor camp, again breaking her home apart.

Ms. Tang Qun, female, resident of Guiyang City, was sentenced to forced labor in the Women’s Section of the labor camp. After being released, she had to become homeless to avoid further persecution. She was again arrested in Guangzhou Province. She is now being detained in the Nanming Detention Center in Guangzhou Province.

Ms. Xu Xueying, female, is in the labor camp because she practices Falun Gong. Since she refuses to give up her belief, inmates have been incited to torture her, resulting in lacerations on her lower body. The cuts are festering and continue to bleed, as she receives no care for her condition.

Ms. Zhang Juying, female, 50, is a resident of Guiyang City, and a worker at the Guiyang Electrical Factory. In 2001, she was arrested at her work place and sentenced to three-years of forced labor in the labor camp, because she practices Falun Gong. Since then she has gone on hunger strikes many times, each time lasting more than 50 days, to protest the persecution. As a result, the guards tortured her. Now she is only skin and bones. Her father died soon after seeing her in this emaciated state.

Ms. Zhan Yi'an, female, 56, a retired doctor from the Guiyang Medical School, was arrested in Shanghai in August 2002 because she told people the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong while she was visiting her relatives. She was then escorted back to Guizhou and detained in the labor camp. She has gone on hunger strikes several times over the last year to protest the torture. As a result of the torture, her body is now paralyzed. Her life is in danger, as she is only kept alive by receiving daily intravenous injections.

Ms. Zhou Guangfen, female, 57, resident of Shibanpo District, Guiyang City, has been detained in the Women’s Section of the labor camp for one year because she practices Falun Gong. She was tortured in the labor camp. Now she is disabled, and all of her muscles have atrophied. Her family is not allowed to visit because the authorities are afraid that the facts of the torture will be exposed.
