Description:

On February 12, 2002, the policemen from the Tiefa City Police Station confiscated Ms. Gao Shuyun’s property and detained her at the Tiefa City Police Station.  Ms. Gao was then sentenced to three years of forced labor in the Tieling Labor Camp. During her detention in the labor camp, Ms. Gao went on a hunger strike (no  water or food) on and off for 41 days. On the sixth day of her hunger strike, the doctor in the labor camp stabbed the arches of her feet with needles. In order to force-feed her, Officer Tian ordered several criminals to sit on her body, while others pried open her teeth with a toothbrush and then used a steel spoon. Four of her front teeth were chipped. Ms. Gao was emaciated because of the torture in the labor camp. She was examined in the hospital and was diagnosed with intestinal adhesions, hypertension, and an abnormal electrocardiogram. Ms. Gao was released  because the labor camp was afraid she would die while in their custody.  After her release, the policeman Wang Biao of the Tiefa City Police Station fined her family 1000 Yuan[1]

Ms. Gao’s husband, Mr. Zhuang Haishen, was also taken to the Tiefa City Police Station on February 12, 2002. In the police station, Officer Liu, Officer Wang, and Policeman Zhang Laotie punched and kicked him, and broke two of Mr. Zhuang’s ribs on the right side of his body. Also, he was covered with bruises. Afterwards, Mr. Zhuang was sentenced to three years of forced labor in the Tieling Labor Camp. In the labor camp, Mr. Zhuang was shocked with an electric baton, beaten on his back and chest with a club, and was forced to do heavy physical labor. Mr. Zhuang is still being detained in the labor camp.
